Children’s NLP
Changing Children’s Lives with NLP
What is NLP?
In a nutshell, NLP is the study of how we make mental maps inside our brain, how we use those maps to make sense of life and, especially how we communicate those maps with others. Consider, for example, the child who is timid of others. Time and again, we find out this child has a map (or template) based on an early experience. This means each time they go to interact with others, a set of responses are activated, which bring up the same set of uncomfortable feelings in each situation they find themselves. Using an NLP skillset, children can be taught how to change their maps, so they can gain confidence, or motivation, or overcome their fears. Properly taught, NLP is fast and profoundly powerful.
Even when two people witness the same event, they often have different opinions about what happened. That’s because we make our own mental maps. Often those who have difficulty understanding others are simply operating from their map of the world.
Why teach NLP to children?
You might have seen the Channel 5 programme “I Can Make Your Child Brilliant” which used Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).
Just imagine if your child was more confident, perhaps more motivated to do the things that they need to get done. What if they had effective strategies to deal with fear? From making smooth transitions into secondary school, to right across the board and to their interactions with others. Effective techniques which are easy to learn, remove barriers to learning and open up the doorway to having more confidence.
Parents too can benefit from a new set of skills to communicate more effectively with their offspring. Tools that have been tested and found effective in the most gruelling life trials – the classroom! From the use of language, to get your child to do those important things that they often seem to miss – like tidying up, to assisting them in overcoming obstacles, swifly and effectively.
